Meet the Coach
Coach Lauren Welch
Coach Lauren Welch enters her first season as the Head Women’s Basketball Coach at Southeast Christian College with a deep passion for player development, leadership, and faith-based mentorship.
A standout athlete, Coach Welch played for the nation’s top-ranked high school basketball program and graduated in 2017. She continued her academic and athletic journey at Hampton University, a prestigious Historically Black College and University (HBCU), where she earned a full athletic scholarship and pursued a degree in Psychology. After one season of collegiate competition, she transitioned into coaching, beginning her career as a collegiate coaching assistant.
Bringing extensive grassroots and elite-level experience to Southeast Christian, Coach Welch owned and operated a year-round AAU basketball program for three years, competing on the national Puma circuit. Under her leadership, the program served girls ages 6 to 17, emphasizing skill development, discipline, confidence, and exposure at the national level.
This marks Coach Welch’s first year as a collegiate head coach, and she is enthusiastic about building a competitive program rooted in character, accountability, and faith. She is excited for the opportunity ahead and trusts God’s plan as she leads and mentors the next generation of student-athletes.
